I think there is always that fear of whether or not something is "suitable" for children. I know if I had children I'd be worried, but then I'd be worried if they looked at a plug.
My favourite example of this is when people who don't know say "Can I call it a comic?" Sure you can, I don't care.
The problem is any implicit tone or violence. The Little Prince doesn't have that. Nothing wrong with pretending to be on the moon talking to a fox, but they probably thought you'd got mental and say "Right, I'm Spiderman, you're Dr Octopus, I'm going to kick ten bells out of you"

You took the words right out of my mouth, Riff. As in deed, Stan “The Man” Lee would be elevated to godhood if it weren't for his title. And I mean, what else can I say but, "You the Man", Riff.
...Great post!

*Disclaimer: The above post is a laugh, not to be taken seriously and can generally be considered to be bullshit. Thought I'd get that in first before anyone else did, but I hope it raises a smile. Many thanks to ComicVine, International Hero and ParagonWiki for using the linked images.

I have a number of problems with such a simplistic overview of the history of women in comics, not least of which is an ignorance of comics for and about females from the forties to the seventies that is so extreme that the only female title you can think of is from a British comic, where the rest of the article is exclusively about American comics.

In fact, British girls' comics of the seventies and eighties were much more interesting and diverse than the boys' equivilent. Not to mention that Patsy Walker and Millie the Model were Marvel's cash cows in the sixties, and it was their success which financed Stan Lee's experiments in superhero titles.

Of course the really snort-milk-up-the-nose funny is the suggestion of Frank Miller as the champion of female equality.
